How to Tell if Your Computer is 32 or 64 Bit Windows 10

Windows 10 is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, and it is important to know which one is installed on your system. This is because some programs and hardware components may require a specific version, and the performance of the system may be improved if the installed version is the most suitable one. In this article, we will discuss how to tell if your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10.

    Identifying 32/64 bit Windows 10

The easiest way to identify which version of Windows 10 is installed on your computer is by looking at the System Information window. To open this window, press the Windows key + R, type “msinfo32” into the Run box, and press Enter. The System Summary window will display the information about the installed version of Windows 10. If the System Type entry reads “x64-based PC”, then the system is running a 64-bit version of Windows 10. If the System Type entry reads “x86-based PC”, then the system is running a 32-bit version of Windows 10.

    Verifying System Properties

Another way to confirm the installed version of Windows 10 is by checking the System Properties window. To open this window, right-click on the Start button and select “System”. In the System Properties window, the installed version of Windows 10 will be listed in the “System type” entry. If the entry reads “64-bit Operating System”, then the system is running a 64-bit version of Windows 10. If the entry reads “32-bit Operating System”, then the system is running a 32-bit version of Windows 10.

Knowing which version of Windows 10 is installed on your computer is important, as some programs and hardware components may require a specific version. By following the steps outlined in this article, you can easily identify whether your computer is running a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows 10.
