Charles Dickens was a literary icon of the 19th century, and his work is still widely celebrated today. He is best known for his classic novels, such as Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol and Great Expectations. But what many people don’t realise is that Dickens was also responsible for inventing the modern idea of Christmas. He was the first author to write about Christmas in a way that resonated with readers, and his work has shaped how we think about the festive season.

Up until that point, Christmas had been largely forgotten and was not widely celebrated. But Dickens’s story changed all that, and it kickstarted a revival of the holiday season that continues to this day.

Celebrating the Legacy of a Literary Icon

Charles Dickens is remembered today as one of the greatest writers of the 19th century. His work has been adapted for the stage, screen and radio, and his stories still resonate with readers of all ages. But Dickens’s legacy also extends beyond literature. He is the man who invented Christmas, and his work has shaped how we think about the festive season.

Every year, millions of people around the world celebrate Christmas in a way that was inspired by Dickens’s writing. We decorate our homes, exchange gifts and gather with family and friends. All of these traditions can be traced back to Dickens’s influence and it’s
