All unions attached to the Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association will meet in Colombo today to take a decision with regard to the way the bus fare should be revised in relation to the increase in the price of fuel.

The price of diesel was raised by Rs. 8 per litre from midnight on Saturday the 29th of October.

Accordingly the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association states that it expects the National Transportation Commission to approve a revision of bus fare in relation to the increase in the price of fuel.

The President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners Association Gamunu Wijeyratna said that the Association will announce its decision regarding this matter following the meeting that will be held at 10 o’clock this morning.

Meanwhile the National Transport Commission stated on the 31st of October that a decision with regard to the revision of bus fare would be taken within two days.

The Chairman of the N.T.C. Shashi Welgama said that the Minister would take a decision as to whether the bus fare would be amended or not, after the commission submits its recommendation to the Minister of Private Transportation Services, C.B. Ratnayake.

Meanwhile the Minister of Transport, Kumara Welgama said at a media briefing held yesterday in Colombo that the Sri Lanka Transport Board had encountered a large number of problems due to the rise in the price of diesel by Rs. 8 per litre.
