Health Minister and Advisor to Sembawang GRC Khaw Boon Wan outlined some of his future plans for the new Sembawang GRC, should he be fielded in that constituency in the upcoming General Elections due by February 2012.
He said: "The Home Improvement Programme (HIP) will be a big programme for the whole of Singapore, for old estates, particularly say Yishun and Marsiling.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition won by-elections in two of its strongholds on Sunday.
The BN retained the Kerdau state seat after its candidate Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad defeated PAS Hassanuddin Salim with a majority of 2,724 votes.

RAS LANUF, Libya : Air strikes targeted rebel positions early Sunday and insurgents retreated from forward positions but Libyan TV claims that Muammar Gaddafi's forces had retaken key towns in a major offensive were swiftly denied.
The rebels said they had withdrawn from the coastal town of Bin Jawad, occupied on Saturday in an advance westward on Sirte, Gaddafi's home town, after clashes which a doctor said left at least 14 wounded.
