KUWAIT: Media is an indispensible tool to bolster the state's relations with other countries and journalists and media representatives are therefore our diplomats in this context, said First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah yesterday.

The senior official was receiving a delegation of media workers and figures who recently went on a tour and stopped in the GCC, Lebanon and Syria on the sidelines of the state's celebrations of the 50th Anniversary of the Independence, the 20th Anniversary of the Liberation, and the 5th Anniversary of His Highness the Amir's Assumption of Power.

KUWAIT: More than 1,000 Kuwaitis demonstrated yesterday evening for a change of the prime minister and demanded more political freedoms. Protesters gathered in a car park they named "The Square of Change" in front of a government building and called for HH Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah to leave. Demonstrators chanted in Arabic "The people want corruption to go" and "Leave, leave Nasser" as they stood in front of a large banner which read: "A new government, with a new prime minister, with a new approa ch.
